Peggy Lee Leather is a very well-respected veteran, known for her somewhat brutal tactics in the ring. She has an
intense desire to win, evidenced in her legendary steel cage match against Bambi, in which Bambi received a gash in her forehead that required 24 stitches
to close. Christie found out how tough Peggy Lee is when they matched up back in October, when the two warriors fought to a 15 minute time-limit draw.
This battle proved to be just as intense.
Peggy Lee came out on fire, stalking Christie around the ring before overpowering her with a full nelson. Christie is a master of reversals, and deftly
caught the bigger woman in a full nelson of her own, startling the veteran. Peggy continued to be the aggressor, controlling the action for minutes at a time while Christie was limited to reversals and
quick attempts to pin Peggy Lee. As she became more frustrated with Christie's quickness, Peggy Lee reverted back to some blatant choking, gauging and even a legal punishing hold once in a great while.
She tossed Christie outside the ring at one point, and each time the Mississippi Queen tried to re-enter the ring, Peggy Lee denied her with a devastating punch, elbow and/or forearm. At one point she
pulled Christie backward over the top rope by her long locks and delivered a nasty forearm to the throat. Christie's next attempt to enter the ring ended when Peggy Lee pulled her head violently over
the top rope, apparently intent on crushing Christie's windpipe. All this abuse was taking its toll on Christie, and she moved a little slower each time she dragged herself to her feet, and it seemed
that Peggy Lee really had her number. Each time it seemed that Peggy Lee was about to land the critical blow however, Christie somehow managed to surprise her ferocious opponent with a well-timed,
quick maneuver that ended with Peggy Lee on her back wondering what happened while the ref lifted his arm for a third time to end the match in Christie's favor. Peggy Lee though, wasn't having it. Each time
she managed to kick out at the last possible second. As the time limit drew near, Christie finally was able to string together a series of power moves, and just as it seemed she had Peggy Lee dazed enough to finish her
off and the ref had reached two in his count, the bell sounded, the time limit was up and for the second time in as many meetings, Christie and Peggy Lee had battled to a draw. Though it was
a successful title defense, it took an awful lot out of the Mississippi Queen and the brawl would continue the very next night, again for the NWA Women's Title. Go the the Results page on this site for a
